As a service user-led organisation more than half of our volunteer trustees are people who use or have used mental health and /or advocacy services. This is just one way the people can get involved.
Our articles of association state that we are a membership organisation. Members have an important role to play in deciding the future direction of the organisation by bringing ideas and voting at our AGM. Members agree to pay £1 in the event of the charity winding up. You can call the office to discuss membership and you can download a membership form here.
People who use our services are offered an opportunity to feedback their views on the advocacy support they received from us. This is one way to get involved – another is to support people to share their views. Feedback forms are not always the easiest way for people to say what they want to say – having a meeting with someone who will listen and take down their views can be more accessible and meaningful. If you are interested in discussing how you help us to help people give us their views, please call the office to discuss it.
We want to always involve mental health and/or advocacy service users in our recruitment processes. If you are interested in helping us to interview or induct new staff please get in touch. I got involved - my name is David Beck - I created this Website for A4MHD. I am also a Committee Member. david@beckweb.org.uk
